On July 8, 2007 at the 50th All Japan Karate Championships at the Budokan in Japan, three special 50th Anniversary President's Awards were given. Two of those awards went to JKA/WF's own Master Koyama and Master Takashina. There were also six special technique awards for age 60 and above. Our organization's Master Mikami was one of those six.

NEWSFLASH
ISKF RESIGNS FROM JKA/WF
ISKF (International Shotokan Karate Federation) has rejected the resolution passed at the JKA/WF International Board of Directors meeting in January 2007, in which they participated; on June 11, 2007 they officially resigned from JKA/WF. JKA HQ has formally accepted this resignation, which was not unexpected and will not have any effect on the Japan Karate Association countries worldwide.
Three of the four founding members of ISKF, Mikami-Sensei, Koyama-Sensei, and Takashina-Sensei, have decided to remain with the Japan Karate Association, and have resigned from ISKF. They have now established a new JKA organization named JKA/WF America, which has been formally approved by JKA HQ
Any ISKF member countries or individual members who decide to leave ISKF are welcome to join JKA HQ or JKA/WF America. All their qualifications, including Dan ranking, will automatically be approved, provided that they officially apply for membership with JKA HQ or JKA/WF America by the end of this year, December 31st, 2007.
Thank you for your prompt and enthusiastic interest in participating in JKA/WF America.
As a first step in the process of becoming official members in JKA/WF America please send us an email requesting applications for membership. Please include contact information for each of the dojo's in your region that are interested in participating so that we may post them on our website immediately as pending members.
Soon after that you will receive applications for your dojo's and all your students. Once received, please complete and return to our main office as soon as possible. You may return applications to us via the mailing address, fax, or email listed below.
Although we will be accepting applications for membership as of July 1st, we will not make any decisions on collecting annual fees until our next board meeting this fall as we realize that many of you have already paid fees to another organization this year.
Thank you again for being a part of this exciting new organization and helping us to continue the tradition of excellence that is JKA.
